About the Founder, Charlotte Priest
Charlotte began her training at Royal Pacific Ballet School in Victoria, B.C. She studied ballet from the age of 4 until 13, then began training in modern, jazz and contemporary dance at Victoria School for Contemporary Dance under the direction of Constance Cooke, Kathy Lang and others. She pursued further training at the Lynda Raino Dance School before beginning her BFA in Contemporary Dance at Simon Fraser University. In Vancouver she had the privilege to study with Peter Bingham, Rob Kitsos, Judith Garry, Helen Wakley and others. After graduating in 2018 she went on to create four original works for the stage. Her work has been presented at Vines Festival of the Arts, Gold Saucer Studio and here on Salt Spring Island.
She has a deep passion for inspiring people of any age and ability to fall in love with movement.
GUEST TEACHERS
Christina Haase (Walls)
Christina grew up primarily on Salt Spring Island, while also spending time in other small communities across British Columbia. As a young dancer, she attended dance competitions throughout B.C., gaining early experience performing in structured, high-energy environments.
Her continued training included taking classes at Harbour Dance Centre in Vancouver and completing work experience at Arts Umbrella Dance Academy on Granville Island, where she was immersed in a professional arts education environment focused on young dancers.
A graduate of Gulf Islands Secondary School, Christina spent many years performing on stage at ArtSpring while growing up and remains deeply connected to the island’s creative roots. She is also a mother of three, which informs her supportive, encouraging, and age-appropriate approach to teaching children.
Christina’s jazz funk classes emphasize confidence and self-expression within a fun and inclusive environment. Her goal is for students to build real dance skills while developing a positive relationship with movement and a genuine love of dance.
Jasmin Skye
Jasmin began her dance training at the age of three at Stage 1 Dance Centre. She trained and competed for 11 years in Jazz, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Stage dance. Between 2010 and 2015, she worked as a competitive dance instructor and choreographer at Coastal Edge Dance Centre, where she taught a variety of dance styles to students ranging in age from 3 to 75.
She later stepped away from competitive dance to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care in 2018. After taking a pause from the dance world, Jasmin moved to Salt Spring Island, where her creative spark was reignited. In 2023, she joined Evolve Dance Collective, an all-female ritual dance performance group, and later went on to co-lead the collective, performing and choreographing in multiple shows.
Jasmin now blends her love of dance with her knowledge of human development to create safe, engaging environments where children and adults can express their creativity. She believes dance is a birthright and is passionate about inspiring joy, confidence, and freedom through movement, song, and storytelling.

We strive to actively consider what it means to dance on these lands as we foster a culture of openness, respect and cultural reciprocity.
